Two of the three commentators on ESPN’s “Bowl Mania” show aired December 8, 2007 picked the Wisconsin Badgers to defeat the Tennessee Volunteers in the 2008 Outback Bowl. While they said the game was among their “least confident” picks among other 2008 Bowl Game prognostications, it was uplifting to see Wisconsin being given the nod in the contest.
One reason stated twice: Wisconsin’s past success against SEC in bowl games - two consecutive wins in 2006 and 2007 over Auburn and Arkansas respectively ( both CapitalOne Bowl games ).
If Missouri is looking for advice on how to deal with Arkansas in the 2008 Cotton Bowl, they should review the 2007 CapitalOne Bowl where the Wisconsin defense made Darren McFadden a non issue in the game ( I believe gaining less than 100 yards ), and holding the Razorbacks to only 14 points in the game.
